Summer Sessions: 5Rhythms outdoors at Providence Farm, Cowichan Valley
Being together in one space, in the freedom of a meaningful movement practice, is a privilege.
I'm thrilled to that we're regaining some room to move on a summer dance floor under the mountain,
with a crystal-clear view of the heavenly land and complex community we inhabit.
The festival stage and massive lawn will be lonely for company in this year of cancellations.
Let's occupy this special space with embodied soul.
This incredible spot will give and all the room we could possibly desire for healthy spacing
while closing the distance between our hearts.
We are unimaginably fortunate to have this place to gather, feet on earth, for a while.
My dad has always said: Let's make hay while the sun shines.

THE DETAILS!
Providence Farm is at 1843 Tzouhalem Road.
If you are driving from south or north of Duncan:
There's easy access from #1 Trans-Canada Highway. Turn east onto Trunk Road and proceed straight onto Tzouhalem Road.
The farm's driveway will be on your left and it's signed. Go slow; most people don't see it until the last second.
We will be parking in the first lot on your left.
SAFETY, CLEANLINESS, RESPECT.
You’ll be signed in by our caring crew. They’ll offer you hand sanitizer and screen you for Covid-19. We have to do this.
We can admit only those who have had, in the last 10 days:
no fever or chill
no new or worsening cough
no shortness of breath
no sore throat
no new muscle or headaches
no direction from public health to isolate
no travel outside Canada
no contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case
The dance field is huge. Take all the space you wish. Give others a minimum of 6 feet, and all the space they ask for. You do you. :-)
Make no assumptions about others' personal space requirements, personal protection practices - or their reasons.
This is a perfect opportunity to practice asking and answering directly, taking both yes and no for an answer, without attachment and with true respect.
REMINDER.
As with all 5Rhythms and conscious dance events, inhabit this space with:
- no chatting
- no intoxicants
- no phones/devices (unless you are a medic, caregiver or parent ON CALL)
- no photography or video-taking
- yes! please tell me or a crew member if you’re leaving early, so we know you’re okay
WE DANCE RAIN OR SHINE.
Please check the weather and come prepared. Remember: weather changes quickly.
Always bring layers, and bring something for rain if in doubt. There’s shade and shelter on the part of the dance floor on-stage.
Depending on attendance there may not be room for all dancers.
MOTHER YOURSELF.
Bring a good supply of drinking water with you, and a light snack if you are prone to blood-sugar drops.
If it rains or has been raining, you may want a blanket to put between you and the grass.
We will have several chairs for those needing a rest for their legs… chair dancing is also fun.
IF YOU'RE VISITING THE COWICHAN
from out of town, let me know! There are lovely places to stay and amazing parks, hikes, and swimming holes to visit.
I'm happy to connect to support you to weave a little holiday around a class.
